Nioxin Reviews

Nioxin Research Laboratories, Inc. is best known for its line of 3-part Scalp Therapy Treatments, which is marketed as a remedy for thinning hair. Thinning hair is a big deal for a lot of people. Does Nioxin really make a noticeable difference, or is it all just hype?

What They Say

The company states that by using all three parts of the treatment, 9 out of 10 people will perceive a thickening in their hair. It’s important to note that Nioxin does not encourage new hair growth, nor does it pretend to. This therapy only cleans up the scalp so any hair follicles that are still alive can grow again.

The treatment (cleanser, conditioner, and scalp foam) clean out pores so that hair can once again grow. The foam, which is combed into the hair (while it’s still wet) serves to strengthen hair strands from the inside out, and also rejuvenate any that might be lagging behind. While this is a plausible idea in theory, in practice it leaves something to be desired.

What We Say

We think that most people who buy and use a hair loss product want to actually have thicker hair, not just perceive it. Nioxin does a good job of deep-cleaning the scalp, but so do a host of other hair care products, and for cheaper. While Nioxin is technically honest in their claims, they are somewhat misleading in what they say. A majority of users have found Nioxin to make little, or more often, no difference in the volume of their hair.

We recommend Nioxin if you want a to give your scalp a good scrubbing or if you want to hold off thinning hair, but it certainly isn’t good for restoring hair. Your money and will be better spent on a different hair loss system.
